just getting a blue screen on all my channels for last two hours but I can watch stuff that was recorded within that time.. is it a setting or would a bad signal let it record.

Could be loose connection at lnb or sky box. The decoder has two feeds. One for live TV and the other for recordings. Look at the LNB and see if there is a cable hanging out of it.
