Cheers men for all the replys, I think I will wait and see what's around, As I said no panic, only consolation is the weather is poor anyway, my pointer will be Gettin loads of work at least, only when the springer is gone you realise the shooting your limited to!

Ya I do the most of my shooting over the pointer by myself, I'd always hunt the springer with a few lads, great to get a good days shooting with 3 dogs and 3 guns specially this time of year for the woodcock.my fella was a dinger for heading into heavy cover and the boys with me have young dogs so he was bringing them on with him aswell

how much you willing to pay.il keep an eye out. kennels up north are good place dogs that just dont cut it for trialing dont have the style.id be sick if i was in your shoes.iv 3 pointers myself but your do need a flushing dog thats why i bought 2 cockers.you prob will never get a dog to fill your other dogs shoes.

That's sound if you would, il pay what the price of the dog is , I will know once I see them if they are worth what there askin, my last lad wasn't cheap, he was bred by Larry taffe in Dublin and was, I'd imagine
, not good enough for trialing either, but he would walk the top of a blackthorn bush and swim a cross flowing water to retrieve a big mallard , so how do you put a price on that if you know what I'm sayin lad!!

    Hi STONEHALL9,
Sorry for your loss. I have lost a few in the past and the sudden ones are the most difficult. I have a 4 1/2 year old male at present that I use for rough shooting and beating ( he is out of ftch Skrondale Remus). He is a very good all round dog in the field and is retrieving from land and water to hand. He is quartering his ground well and is steady to flush, shot and fall. He is quiet in the kennel and easygoing when not hunting. He wont be available until the season is over but you can come and see him in the meantime in the beating line or out for a shot with me. I usually train dogs up to finished level and then move them on for another project. I am actually on the lookout for well bred Cocker at present; ALAN450, could you send me on the contact you have please?

    Cheers,

    Max.
