With 'the big storm' nearly upon us, are we going to have an interesting night ahead? Will flight radar be the one to watch tonight?

If it stays dry winds within limits for most aircraft onto runway 28 at Dublin.

Not tonight, but the action tomorrow should be good. Dicky wind direction and wind strength will cause issues.

Just watched the delta take off from 28 and as soon as his nose left the ground the crosswind got him and he started to fly sideways. perfectly normal stuff in this weather but it always looks off-putting if you are not expecting it.

operations seem to be currently suspended @ DAP. winds are gusting way above safe limits (~45knts). Last plane to land was an Iberia which crabbed almost at right angles to 28, and blown around like a kite.

I saw an aer lingus flight abort a landing from portmarnock about an hour ago. Even from the ground you could see the plane hopping around in the wind.

I went back for another gawk at DAP. The wind speed has improved in terms of mean speeds and gust strength but its still between 220 & 230 degrees, so the gust are still 50-60 degrees off on the nose (rway28). The rain is also falling heavily to add to the difficulties
