    Hi,

I need my ‘Statutory Declaration’ signed and completed by one of the following (Practising Solicitor/ Commissioner for Oaths / Notary Public / Peace Commissioner) .

I live in Tallaght Dublin 24. Can you please suggest me the best possible way to do it? Where do I go? How much they charge? And if their office is open tomorrow?

    Thank you.

Notary Publics charge a lot more than solicitors or peace commissioners.

Yes,the OP asked about NP I also gave I him the other options, but trying to get any of them on Christmas Eve would have been difficult. Hence why I gave him as much info to find one of his options. I would assume that as he was looking for a person on a Christmas Eve it was important and time sensitive and it would be up to the OP to decide on the issue of costs.

I would assume that as he didn't even know where to find one he wouldn't be aware of the costs. There would be more than €100 in the difference.

I know a notary and he does not charge anywhere in excess of €100 for one signature, in such a situation. But in any event considering the OP wanted a signature on Christmas Eve not really an issue now.

I found one solicitor in Tallaght and its charging 10 euro for statutory declaration, is it normal?

Although his office is closed now in christmas holidays.

That's what would be usually charged for witnessing signatures etc so it sounds about right for a statutory declaration, depending on what they are actually attesting to.

I think you will find it difficult to get a solicitors office open before Thursday. Well any of the firms I know closed from the Friday before Christmas to the 2nd Jan. Your best bet is to try and track down a peace commissioner in your area they are usually local business people so a good chance they will be contactable.

There is one listed here http://www.tallaght.net/local/services/tds/tds.html

Nope just the peace commisioner, if he can't help contact local Garda station they will have list of peace commisioners

Solicitors used to open their offices for some of the days between Christmas and New Year's day, but that practice vanished years ago.

A Peace Commissioner is your best bet.

Local Gardai may know of solicitors available over the holidays for emergencies. Bring some evidence of identity. The solicitor wquld be entitled to be paid for such attendance.

its not very important, even if the offices open on monday or 2nd Jan, it will be fine.

There is a set fee for solicitors and commissioners for oaths and solicitors. There is no set fee for notaries.

In Dublin, there will be solicitors calling to the busy Garda stations frequently. Some firms have a duty solicitor to deal with calls from the garda whern a client has been arrested. You might be able to persuade a Garda to give you a ring when a solicitor turns up to deal with a client.
