Fake confirmation from Santa

How do An Post send out those notes saying that Santa got your letter? Do they open every letter and send one out to the address? And if people (the parents) apply to receive them then what happens the letters sent to Lapland? Do they go into an incinerator at the post office?

I remember asking someone this before. I think it was the local post office opens them. They recycle/shred them I suppose. I very much doubt they are incinerated. I guess all letters addressed to Lapland are chucked out, they couldn't actually go to Lapland!?
