Wall brackets for a desk? + idea

Can't really find any desks that will do the job that I need, so thought I'd try and whip something up myself. For one of the kids rooms, there's going to be a 60cm gap that should fit a small 'desk' in, but can't really find any suitable desks.

I plan on buying some wall brackets, mounting them to the wall, then buying a 100cm Linnmon table top from IKEA (only €10) and cutting it to fit into the space.

What do you guys reckon? Any recommendations for what sort of brackets I should use to keep the desk sturdy?

You might not even have to use wall brackets. Do you have something sturdy on both sides?

Just get a 2 length of 2x1 and use these as support under the worktop. Very cheap and very sturdy.

You don't even need to bring the 2x1 out as far as the front of the worktop so it would be well hidden.

I don't think this would work. IKEA table/desk tops are usually not solid boards, just frames sandwiched between two sheets with paper filling the cavity. Cutting it would simply expose the hollow core and probably weaken it so much as to render it useless.

Well if you are not cutting it then its even easier. Is it going into an alcove? Like will it flush against something on 3 sides?

If it's just for Children and not to wide a Span 4ft or less. Then just get a Sheet of 15mm or 18mm Melamine and do as Almighty suggested.
Two x One on Three sides and fix the Melamine Top in place with a couple of L Brackets. It should only take and Hour or less and a good Job done, Kids Happy.
