Zafira Tourer - Shuddering @ 2-3000RPM

    I bought a Zafira Tourer 2.0CDTI ECOFlex in 2012. I had it serviced last week - a scheduled service @ 60k KM.

I noticed the day after that the service that the car will shudder between 2-3000 RPM and this is particularly noticeable on inclines. The symptoms die down when I drive for another 10 or so minutes ie. it seems to be when the car is cold that it exhibits the "shuddering".

This was not happening before the service. Part of the service was a recall - apparently a software update for the ECU. I didn't get any further information about the recall.

I called the garage and they asked if there was a warning light - which there isn't. They said there is no problem since the computer would detect a problem. I'm no expert but I'm worried that I'm going to damage the car driving it when it has these symptoms. I don't believe that the computer will detect all problems.

    Any ideas?

P.S. will I void my warranty if I get my car serviced by my own mechanic - if he uses OEM parts?

It could be related to the cold weather and your turbo warming up. I'm no expert, but I think the turbo kicks in at 2k RPM on those engines.

However I've had to go to a mechanic, the same guy, 3 times before he properly checked an issue for me before because "the computer didn't show any faults" this is complete bull as not all components are diagnosable. In my case it was a secondary fuel pump.

Go back on a cold morning with the car cold and have a mechanic drive the car. Driving the car in the same conditions as you experience the issue is the only way they'll know what you're feeling.
