Volvo S40 cutting out at 3000 revs

    Hi,

I bought a 2007 Volvo S40 recently. I had my mechanic check it out and it seemed fine. Not long after I started having problems. Basically its cutting out when it goes to 3000 revs then I'm losing all the poke out of it and it feels like its about to die. I'll get the power back intermittently. I'm wondering is the turbo bust?

    Any suggestions appreciated

    Thanks

Sounds to me like a clogged fuel filter.

If you find the fuel filter on the car somewhere and see is it still the original one in there, if it is... it's 7 years old already.

I suppose no lights come on? Get codes read anyway.

Crank or cam sensors can cause this issue, any check lights?

The particulate filter and the fuel filter are two different things.
