Installed RAM in laptop

I bought some RAM for my laptop on ebay, which I received last week. When I booted it after installing it, a message popped up saying that windows had removed a virus from some system file. I then ran a full antivirus scan and it found nothing.

Is it just coincidence that this happened after installing the RAM? Surely viruses cannot be transferred on RAM modules as it is volatile memory?

I had a few issues initially with random crashes, but this seems to have resolved itself and it has been running smoothly for a week now.

Does it seem like there is any problem with the RAM I received?
