Put it in your name and then fill out whatever sheet, to say its off the road.

Buy the car, put it in your name. When you are finished removing whatever parts you need, take it, or have it taken to a breakers yard. They'll give you an end of life cert. There is no need to declare a car off the road, unless you intend putting it back on the road in the future.

Actually you do. The tax system has changed this year so you need to proactively declare a car off the road otherwise you have to pay the tax on it.

    No you don't.

No you don't. If your not going to be taxing it in the future then you never have to pay the back tax. No need to declare off the road unless you yourself want to tax it.

If its going to the scrap heap there's no need to declare it off the road.
Even if you were purchasing it to do up and sell without taxing you don't need to declare either as the new owner will not be liable of any back tax either.

My apologies. Of course in this case it is a parts car and wont go back on the road so declaration is not needed. Speed reading catches me out again.

I'd declare off road, it's only a matter of time before they decide to send out bills for undeclared vehicles.

You only need to declare a car off the road if you intend to put it back on the road at some future date, and want to avoid having to pay any back tax.
In this instance the intention is to use the car for parts, and when finished, all that needs to be done, is to dispose of the rest properly.

No one can make you tax a car that will not be used again, so sending out a 'bill'. which is a request for payment, is not going to happen.

That is not a 'bill', all it is, is a reminder that the car has not been taxed. It is not a request for payment of any kind.

Just buy the car, strip it of its parts and then sell the shell for scrap metal prices.
