I have two problems with my car.

1... I have a 05 reg standard golf. The wipers work fine when I am driving but then stop when the car stops. They work again when I move. Window washer wont work at all. Rear window washer works.

2... When I lock the doors the back door wont lock even if I manually lock the car or use the central locking button on the key.

    Any help would be helpful.

Passats of that vintage (so possibly the golf too) have a feature where the wiper speed reduces when you come to a stop. When the wipers are set to intermittent they stop completely when the car stops, if they are on a higher speed they reduce to intermittent when the car stops. Is this what you are experiencing?

Also did all the problems start at the same time or separately?

No even when you have them on full, they stop working when the car stops. I have the car a few years and it only started to happen two weeks ago. I was thinking it might be a sensor.

The door issue has been going on a few weeks prior to this. Its a great car very economical. Its a run around car for us. Flew through the NCT.

    Thanks for the reply

    1. This is a feature in some cars. As you said could be sensor or a control unit issue - or maybe it should do this.
I'd get a dealer opinion and/or double check manual.

    2. Probably the harness leading to the door, or the mechanics in the door/lock.
Open door up and take a look.
