PSU Form Factor Help Please!

    Hi there!

I have a Lenovo H330 desktop which I bought a year or two ago. It's a grand machine for what I need and the slimline build works well with the ever decreasing space available in a house with two kids and a pair of hoarders for parents!

Recently I have started playing a formula 1 game and the built in graphics can only handle it with everything set on the lowest detail and resolution settings. So I would like to upgrade to a separate graphics card.

I don't need anything other than a fairly low end card and don't use any other graphics intensive applications or programs.

The biggest issue is the H330 only has a 180W power supply. A different version of the H330 comes with a AMD Radeon HD 6570 card with a 250W supply. So I know I don't need to upgrade to anything massive to run a basic card. There seems to be plenty of cards out there that a rated at sub 100-200w.

But try as I might, I can not find any info on what form factor the stock PSU has. I can not find anything out there that appears to fit the existing case. I've opened the case and got all the details of the PSU but it gives away nothing about itself other than the usual part and serial numbers. It's made by Huntkey and I have tried to contact them to find out what alternatives would fit, but I guess China is too far away for my English language email to get a reply!

Lenovo couldn't given away anything either. Other than suggesting I go on to their parts website and search for the 250W unit which comes with the other H330 model. Needless to say, it is showing permanently out of stock and still does not provide any information about the type of PSU used.

Can anyone help me find an upgrade for my PSU??? I have no interest in building a new unit with a larger case, so if it can't be done then I will simply live with the low res, low frame rate racing games....

    Many thanks!

I'd say get out the measuring tape and figure it out yourself. TBH if it doesn't match either SFX or TFX specs its probably some sort of custom sized unit in which case you'd be out of luck.

    Thanks Marco.

I've measured it and it seems to be very close to TFX as far as I can tell without taking it out and measuring it accurately. The screw holes on the back of the unit are in different positions to TFX though.

It may well be a custom unit and I won't get a direct replacement.

There may be a chance the H5XX series use the same dimensions so maybe I should bark up that tree and see if I can get a H550 PSU or something like that.....
