Have booked Warsaw for a long weekend in April? Looking for recommendations of things to do and am wondering what the weather will be like?

Weather in Poland in April can be hard to call. I've been there when it was 20c + and also when it was snowing.

Where are you staying? Warsaw is quite a spead out city.

    Things to do:
Walk around Old Town. Grab a seat in the square and enjoy a coffee or beer. Walk from Old Town via the Saxon Garden to the Palace of Coulture - nice views of the city from the top.
Lazinki Park - nice walks and very lively at the weekends. Might even get to hear a free Chopin recital.

Night life is great albeit a bit spread out. Try Nowy Swait street nice mix of restaurants and bars.
If you are a foody try Ala Gloria restaurant in Plac Trzech Krzyzy. It's run by Polish celebrity chef Magdalena Gessler.

The Praga district - over the river from the Old Town is kind of interesting. Something like what was originally intended for Temple Bar - artists, galleries, coffee shops etc., all in an area that was very run down and still is, a bit.

If you have an interest in history the Warsaw Uprising museum is very good and a trip to Treblinka is another option.

A long day trip to Krakow (Auschwitz or Wieliczka mines or Krakow Old Town) is a possibility.

Thanks for the suggestions so far. We will be staying near the Presidental Palace, which from the bit of research I do, looks to be within walking distance between the Old Town and the New Town.

Was is Krakow several years ago and loved it, although I am still affected by Auschwitz.

Krakow was so beautiful, I am prepared that Warsaw may not be as picturesque. However, I am slightly worried by a few online 'reports' that are less than complimentary about the place. That, I suppose, is a given about most places though.

Warsaw isn't Krakow for sure, but it has its own charm. There are occasional glimpses of what it must have been like in the glory days of the Paris-Berlin-Warsaw European trips.

Drop into Polonia Palace Hotel for a meal or a drink to get a taste of the old days. It's on Al. Jerozolimskie across the road from the Palace of Culture and Science.

In terms of architecture there are some stunning modern developments to be seen. If that's your thing, there are some tours available.

Thanks guys for the suggestions. I am looking forward to going there as I really loved the atmosphere, architecture, history and people of Krakow, although I wasn't gone on much of the local food.

Pity there doesn't appear to be a 'cloth hall' there like Krakow - I loved that!
