Any suggestions for large (say 9kg) washing machine - current 5kg on last legs and run nearly every night, so needs to cope with heavy usage

    Thanks

Look for a Bosch(exactly the same as Siemens). They last for ever and are extremely water and electricity efficient. They are slightly more expensive than your usually ****ty brand like hotpoint and hoover candy( which arent built to last).

Bosch has a rebate at the moment, so the machines arent too expensive

    bargain at 450

Buying cheap household appliances is false economy.

Bosch are like most manufacturers at this time, you just have no idea what your buying, Bosch now have machines built in Turkey (so you can imagine the build quality) but still flying the MADE in Germany logo, some build in China, its just total bollox!!
Spend as little as possible on a Machine that will do the job, forget all the buttons, half load, rinse hold, time save, cook ya dinner. If it has a warranty fine, but dont be swayed by extended parts warranties, warranties are ****e and IF covered there is usually a FIXED labour charge that will strip you.

Yep! I will go along with that also. Modern economics where the cheapest prevail has brought us to this.:pac:

Just dumped a 26month old €700 bosch dishwasher, pile of dung!
Would never touch their stuff again……….build quality is a bygone era with them I am afraid.

Still great gas boilers, but thats it!

Meile do a good machine. No fancy buttons, looks basic but a great machine. It's expensive, but they put the money into the machine, not the astethics

I Supply and service Meile industrial machines to certain hotels and B&B's and they are very basic but well built machines that are trouble free, unlike the domestic machine that in my mind have failure built in.

Hi Billy/dtp1979/anyone, have had 2 great Zanussi's lasting 6 and 7 years respectively. Most recent 1600 speed being a great machine. Any recommendations on a Meile model please? Do you think these are better or just as good?? Looking to get asap. Thanks.

Hello, we had same problem last summer and replaced 5kg zanussi with a 8kg Indesit IWE81681ECO. Works great and saves on usage due to large capacity. Very quiet and best of all it has a timer that you can set it to start anytime up to 24 hours later. We use this to start the washer after night rate electricity starts. Saves on running costs. Cost was €329.99 with extra for a 4 year service plan to give 5 years peace of mind!

    Hope this helps.

Helps! Thanks for taking the time to reply, with details/tips. Zanussi was a 6kg, sizing up make sense. Hadn't looked at this brand, will do.
