Was checking something on bing maps using the birds eye map feature and I noticed something interesting. The map was taken during sowing season so was when looking at the area around east cork you can clearly see the tillage land. Needless to say you can really make out the main tillage areas. East cork, west Waterford, south tipp, Wexford and up though Carlow, kk, Laois, Kildare, Dublin, Meath, Louth North down and so on. You can even see the isolated tillage areas like North Kerry, North Antrim and parts of Galway and donegal.

Quite interesting when you zoom to other parts of the world too.

It does give a fair idea of the differences in the land alright. I think the westerne side of the country might have been taken later but if you zoom in closer you can clearly see the ploughed fields.

Goggle map was taken this year in the last week in March and if you look around you will see there was no silage anywhere at this time
