Regardless of what we think or say, HR is here to stay.

Has anyone from the TUI applied for a 3 year CID? Has anyone got one? How do you go about it? Is it the same way as before?

Trying to take some good/positivity from yesterday...

Principal signed off on a TUI colleague`s CID today- He`s in his fourth year,so the Department are going ahead with the 3 year CID.

Our branch requested info on all eligible teachers from school reps and made a list of teachers who should be due a CID under the new rule. This was then discussed with the VEC. I don't know how many have been issued, but there have definitely been some. The same thing happens with the old system. You make sure the local branch know that you're due a CID, so they can bring it up with the VEC If there's a problem.

I'd imagine the ASTI will soon start to do something similar.

Teachers who are currently in their fourth year in my school got their CIDs yesterday.

Were they for decent amounts of hours?

What about a person who is in their 4th year now and has substantially more hours this year (year 4) than last year (year 3) ?

17:20 for both. It's the magic number in my school.

CID is based on their third year so I guess they lose out on that basis.

Was totally against Haddington road and am dreading all the SnS that's coming down the line after Jan 20th.

However, got my CID in the post yesterday followed by a call from the boss that I've a permenancy interview in two weeks.

Also three A Posts advertised on the board!

    Tiz an ill wind!

Cool. I should be CID for half hours next year with HR. I suppose the only thing is that the renewal comes around faster and maybe there's some hope of it being upped

In my third year of full hours, 2 years career break cover, thus year my own hours. Where do people think I stand in terms of CID? Will approach union and principal, but just wondering if anyone here has thoughts?

then you are only in first year of hours with no objective grounds. Career break doesn't generally count for CIDs

I know that if you had covered for a mat leave in a school as part of the four years you were allowed to included that in the build up to a CID. The hours you had in your fourth year had to be your own tho. I cannot see why a career break could not be included in the build up to a cid if a mat leave is allowed count!

check with the union. Three years of continuous employment, the objective grounds only apply in the last year afaik

If your 3rd year hours are in your own right, and you have three years consecutive employment, then you are eligible for a CID regardless of whether years 1 or 2 were mat leave cover/career break cover etc. it's your current employment status and your years of continuous service with the same employer that matter. It is a common misconception among both teachers and employers (and sadly the odd union rep) that the CID eligibility clock doesn't start ticking if it's a maternity leave position etc.

I've emailed ASTI so I'll let yas know what they respond with. I know it'll depend on me being offered hours next year though.

Not if you're in your third year and you get the CID - that means you're in

Teachers who are currently in their fourth year in my school got their CIDs yesterday.

Can I ask if they receive anything tangible from the department? Or do they get it in writing from the school?

We're VEC. One of them mentioned getting something to sign and send back. I didn't ask after that

Does anyone know anything about this?
    http://www.tui.ie/news-events/major-breakthrough-for-teachers-qualifying-for-a-contract-of-indefinite-duration-this-year-under-the-terms-of-the-haddington-road-agreement.5163.html

Is this specific to teachers who are already in their fourth year? Or is it going to be a standing thing where if your hours are increased in the fourth year that your CID will go up?

I really hope so, it would go a long way towards alleviating the casualisation of the profession if CIDs were easier to increase in hours

Afaik, it's to cover teachers who got their CIDs earlier than expected, but who would have been better off CID wise had they been under the old system and got it based on hours on their 4th year.

Someone I know got his CID based on his 11 hours in 12-13 (his 3rd year), but he has 15 hours in total this year (4th year). Now, thanks to this news, he'll get a CID for 15hrs in September.

In our college (ETB) those of us in our fourth year are still waiting for CIDs. Just had contracts for one year (from last Aug to this) posted out over Christmas. Anyone else still waiting?

We had a guy from the TUI executive committee in school today so I asked him about it. He said it was a once off thing because there are teachers in the position that are getting a 3 year CID now when they are in their fourth year and their fourth year has improved hours, so to get around that problem this solution was proposed. From next year on it will be 3 year CID as standard.

I also asked about HRA S&S hours. He said we have to do supervision every week if it is available. The hours of supervision we do per week work out at 55 mins per week so probably a break and a lunch for everyone and we have to nominate 5 classes on top of that which can be used for the substitution aspect of it.

Got a response on the facebook page as follows:

"This specific measure is for those currently in their fourth year. The issue of ongoing augmentation of CIDs is one that the union will be addressing at the Expert Group on Casualisation which is to be established as part of the Haddington Road Agreement."

There really should be augmentation as the hours arise, its really disheartening without it
