Hi guys looking for some info on concrete posts, how strong are they, had a 6 foot timber fence up around the back of house blown down the other night the 4/4 timber posts just snaped they were about 10 years old and set in concrete just wondering would concrete posts be a better job.

There is your problem. Wooden posts should never be set in concrete. Wood needs to breath and when it can't it rots.
Lots of variables with fencing as to what a good job is.

Wooden Post and rail should last 25yr
    Concrete should last 50yr plus

Without concrete are they not liable to tilt sideways with the wind combined with the weight of the rail?On a windy site how far down should the posts go if not using concrete?
