Partner got a payslip from previous employment for money owed, but it has apparently been lodged into his old AIB account, which we are nearly sure has been closed (by them, not us). If they have closed it, what will happen the money? And is there anything he can do to get it back?

Its definitely not gone so don't worry about that. I would think the most likely scenario is that the transaction would probably "bounce" back to the former employer within a few days.

But it'd best to contact the bank first to try and figure out the status of the payment is currently.

    It should bounce back.

Phew! Its a very substantial payment, completely changes Christmas! Hopefully if it has bounced, we can get them to relodge it!
