Claiming taxback on education

    Hi All,

I'm doing a part-time MSc which I'm paying for myself while working. I know I'll be due a tax refund as I've paid approx. €5000 this year.

Does anyone know what I'll need to bring to the revenue office. As far as I can tell it's:

    The IT31 form
    P60
Written confirmation of the amount paid from the college (a letter on college headed paper should be enough? I can bring bank statements but I paid half of that amount through AIB and I shut this down when they brought in their fees. Will this be a problem??)

and possibly proof that I'm still enrolled??

    Many thanks :o

You dont need to call into revenue
Just post in the form & retain the receipts for 6 years

alternatively - just complete a form 12 next year to claim it with anythig else you might be claiming for 2013

Also - iti might be possible to claim it on line at payeanytime.ie -- I'm not sure if it's there though - maybe someone can confirm

Not able to be done online I'm afraid. Proof of payment is required with the claim. (receipt from educational institution)

Also it's not a refund- it's a credit against PAYE paid. You mention that you work full time so you will get a refund up to the allowance against taxed PAYE

Sorry to be bringing this post back up but I'm filling this form out.

Last year I claimed back for what I had paid for in 2012 (started the course then) and now I want to claim back what I have paid in 2013. So this includes the academic year 2012/2013 and 2013/2014 (basically I want to claim on all I've paid from Jan - Dec 2013 which covers two academic years).

In the IT31 form where it says "academic year to which claim refers" what do I need to fill in? Or can I put in an accompanying note explaining that I'm claiming back for all of 2013?

    Many thanks.
