Importing Cider from the UK

    Hey all,
    Tescos, etc, have stopped selling Westons Wylde Wood for €2 a bottle, and nowhere else really stocks it (apart from Supervalue at €4.80 a bottle).

    So, I'm thinking of importing it form the UK for personal use. Also because at £20 for 12 bottles it may work out cheaper ordering it from the UK than it would to drive up north.

    Has anyone ever imported cider from the UK, and if so, how did they do it?

    Feck. Just saw http://westons-cider.co.uk/_checkout/addresses/
    Due to current excise legislation deliveries of cider and perry can be made to the UK only
    So not really too sure. Also edited the original post to add the question (forgot to add it when I wrote it :o).

    Carrying a van and paying ferry charges would not pay, you could get some by courier, are you familiar with any local couriers that do international delivery?

    Is this the stuff

    I've used that site before but the first payment had to be a bank draft. It was a bit of a nousance but the delivery was quick and they threw some testers in aswell. Forgot about it this year but would definitely use it again

    Would Parcel Motel be a viable option for a case maybe?

    Parcel Motel doesn't accept alcohol.

    Update;
    Got onto Westons.co.uk and asked about importing, and they redirected me to their Irish distributor, CRDrinks, who gave me a quote of about €40 per box.

    Could anyone tell me how a £20 (€24) pops up to €40? Close to a 66% price increase? Seems steep.

    Irish excise rates:

    http://www.revenue.ie/en/tax/excise/duties/excise-duty-rates.html

    94.46 cent per litre if up to 6%

    Over 6% it's 2.1844 per litre

    UK cider excise duty

    39.66 pence per litre up to 7.5%

    In the end, I swung by Sainsburys in Newry on the way to Fermanagh :pac:

    Had a few up in Fermanagh, and here's whats left;

    £64.13 or €77.79 for 31 bottles of 10 different types. Nice selection, and if you ring them, they'll tell you how much stock they have.
