Service Theft Deterrent System

    Hello,

I drive a 2011 Opel Astra. When I bought the car, they only had one key and ordered the second from Germany. Once it arrived, they called me in and programmed my car to work with the key. The key is new so I decided to use the new key.

The problem is: I was sitting with a friend in my car for maybe an hour listening to the radio. I decided to go home and as I went to turn the car on, it wouldn't start and I got a message saying "Service theft Deterrent System", and then kept getting messages to keep servicing all kinds of other things like, power steering, airbag, stabili talk etc. My friend drove me home and I got my old key to see will it work with it and nope it doesn't. Does anyone know what the problem might be. I am thinking it could be the battery. But then again, i can switch the ignition and listen to the radio. Also, recently my car battery died but it re charged itself after 15 minutes.

    Could anyone please help?

    Thanks a lot.

Really not sure. It's a new key. The car will simply not start at all. I left it at my friends house over night and plan to call Opel in the morning.

Battery low would be my guess!
