I'm planning my wedding for early 2015 and I have a colour in mind for the theme, I really love it only I'm worried it's too bold for a wedding :o

It's a deep rich royal blue.. I'm crazy about it..

Would I be mad to choose this colour? would it wash me out in the photos?

I just don't fancy any of the light pastel colours that I see a lot of others going for..

Would be interested to hear what colours others chose, and why they chose it :)

I'm going for a very dark charcoal/grey. Getting married in Spain in April, and at first had purple in mind for the girls. However, when we got down to actually picking their dresses (for 4 of them), purple was far too bold, and didn't match all of their colouring. The girls age from 18 - 33 and a size 0 - 20, so we decided against getting the same dress for them all.
The charcoal just seemed to be the best fit for them as a group, and we went for 4 different styles. I honestly never thought I'd go for anything other than purple, but when it came down to it, it just wasn't right, and I didn't want the girls to be uncomfortable.
The lads will be in a darker grey suit, and I now love my colour scheme. I'll be using bright flowers to create a pop of colour, but won't be overkill.

I think that colour would be beautiful and I don't think it's bold at all, I had navy for my bridesmaids and it really made my dress stand out! What colour are you wearing and what is the groom and best man in etc?

It sounds gorgeous and not crazy at all.

Honestly this is all that matters - it's not "a wedding" - it's your wedding. Do what you like/love/want and not what people perceive should be done!

I had navy and I think it made my dress pop even more!

My cousin did a deep royal blue for her bridesmaids and it was beautiful! She used sunflowers in the bouquets and they looked amazing.

I had a kinda purpley colour for mine, here they are:

I'm going with cadbury purple colour for my wedding but royal blue was a contender too! Go for whatever colour you want. I know someone that had day glow orange.

I had very vibrant bridesmaid dresses in two very different and rich colours, with very vibrant bouquets too, it added to everything, certainly didn't wash me out.

I think deep colours are great for bridesmaids.

Take a look at the third photo down in this blog. Great deep blue on the girls, suits them all.

I had a rich teal blue for my autumn wedding. I had to think about the BM's colouring ( I had Black, White, and mixed-race BM's) and decided this colour looked best on everybody. Great splash of colour on a wet and windy day!

I think the royal blue sounds fab. Makes a nice change from all the purples, pinks and pastels I keep seeing. I'd either keep it really classic with white and silver, or else go completely mad and have shocking pink or yellow accents.

I think its a lovely colour. I love Sapphire blue, so if I did have a bridesmaid I'd hope it would be a colour that would suit her. A colourful bouquet to set it off would be fabulous.

It really depends on the bridesmaids colouring, but that kind of blue would suit more colourings than pale pink or beige.

Royal blue dresses with hot pink/ orange bouquets would be stunning!

Try not to get too hung up on colours before you can actually try dresses on though. I ended up with a totally different colour scheme to what I envisioned, based on what suited the girls on the day.

The sapphire blue is amazing. When I was thinking about having a summer wedding, this was the colour I was considering. Go for whatever colour you love best.

I love bold colours for weddings. I'm a wee bit biased as we had teal and orange for our bridesmaids. Loved the colour combo, and as we had an Autumn wedding, there was a lot of beautiful colours in the natural scenery.

If you both like the colour and want it at your wedding, I say go for it! :)
