In light of all the crc scandals and victory outreach programme for homeless with addictions,i am just shocked at the carry on of some of these so called chairities who seem to act like the money they get is that of their own personal bank account.

Im wondering does charity even mean charity anymore? When we see rehab care for example getting 200+k per annum and they have a habit of hiring fas workers as care workers, some with no caring background.

    Should more charities be investigated?

To surmise what happened in victory outreach, prime time went undercover and sent a guy in there suffering from addiction that was their cover story.Victory outreach would take up to 150 dole per week off the homeless guys in other shelters(wet houses),and then take them on in thier addiction programme center, they rent out houses all over dublin and kildare, and do their addiction programme which involves prayer and no counselling.
Now to let you know they are registered as a charity, and ive often seen them around shaking buckets full of money for their 'charity'.

None of the staff were qualified, basically they would subsitute the syringe for the bible, and have you up at the crack of dawn praying like a lunatic.

Then after you went cold turkey(which is not medically advised for addicts),you would be pushed out on to the street to hustle for this charity, and sell tickets in pubs and clubs(a no-no for addicts, and often a trigger factor for them also). They would be working up to 18 hours per week until about 2 a clock in the morning,no food no breaks no nothing, and not get paid.

Some of the staff were very agressive the house manager in particular(who boasted he had no degrees but life experience),he was so in your face and agressive i honestly thought this guy was a full blown psychopath.

He stopped a client in the house from entering and getting his card and money and told him if he went in the house again he would be sorry etc,he was very up in your face and threatening.

It was a very interesting programme, and there was a piece on joe duffy over it.

My second question basically is: Where do you think charities are going in light of all these revelations, and do you think its fair on the rest of the chairites who might be doing good work?

For me personally it has turned me off charity and im a lot more suspicious of even the bucket shakers i see in the city, there are so many of them popping up everywhere its hard to keep track of whos who,and what the CEO's are paying themselves.

Invariably you will find charities who are not genuine, the wealth of the CEO's is visible,ie driving mercs, treating the charity as their own personal bank account, and not publishing their full incomings and bonuses/extras.
