I've an old model 2004 A4 and am about to buy a 2009 Passat estate and wondered if the towbar on audi would fit it - is there any of checking this ?

Passat is 2.0 TDI 110 BHP with 60K miles - anything to be wary of watch out for ?

Thanks in advance & happy Christmas

Not a chance the towbar will fit!
Towbars are expensive now as they need a module to interface with the canbus (no more splicing in an indicator cluster)

Had a look on micksgarage.com, and compared the part numbers, they are different, so i'm guessing no....

Reliable engine, better than the 1.9Tdi to drive, but you can really tell the difference between the 110ps and 140ps versions of the engine at higher speeds. Where the 140 would accelerate with ease, the 110 can struggle to build up speed.

Most of the issues with the Passat had been ironed out by 2009, but we've had a good few A/C compressor failures on VW/Skoda cars around that age.

thanks a million ror - defo miss the top end grunt alright sound info on the turbo.
Had a few nightmares with the ECU in multitronic box on the A4 - guessing the electronics on Passat ok enough now too, it is manual

As for the towbar, check out http://www.malcolms.ie/towbars.php for each particular model.
Also fitting instructions on their site, very handy to check if bumper needs to be removed or cut etc.
