Question about pricing

Hi never posted here before but I have a question if someone can help I would be grateful.

I was unfairly dismissed by my last employers, I got a solicitor on board and I ended up settling outside of court.

The question is I was represented on a no foal no fee basis. I settled on a sum and my solicitor sent an email to myself on the 21st September telling me I would get X and she would get Y(their payment). Today I received a letter stating the cheque was in the office. The problem I have is that their amount has now increased by 20%.

Is the price I was quoted in the email the one I am expected to pay or could there be something I have not seen yet that I might have to pay.

Thank you in advance to anyone who answers

Was the quoted price exclusive of VAT or inclusive. VAT is 23%. Many solicitors say the bill will be €100 and then correctly charge €123 inclusive of VAT. I personal think all prices should be quoted inclusive there may even be a SI on that issue.

Found this, I'm sure there's another on but it's escaping me at the moment.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but where you are providing professional services to other businesses, where there is the opportunity for that business to reclaim the VAT then it makes more sense to quote ex-VAT since that represents the real cost.

Obviously, the same rationale doesn't apply when dealing with consumers.

Ask for a breakdown of the bill.

Sorry for not getting back. It was just a typo.

    Thank you all
