struggling with trinity halls payments

    Hi everyone.
The next installment for halls is due by the first of January and we are really struggling to make the payment. We didn't get a grant and are a single parent family. I have contacted the accommodation office who forwarded me to the academic registry and I had to send them two messages in the last month and still have no answer from them.
My question is, does anyone know if they are very strict on time limits. We would be able to pay half of it now and pay the rest in February when we will come into some money. This is causing my family and I so much money and it's so hard to enjoy Christmas with this hanging over us.
I would appreciate if anyone knows someone who was in this situation and knows what the usual procedure would be.?
P.s. I am a TAP student and spoke to them about this. They said the student emergency fund would only give me about fifty euro and thus wouldn't be much use. Apparently it's very scarce this year.
Look forward to hearing a reply. Thanks in advance.

Don't quote me on this but I know some people pay later. Give them what you can and say nothing. Then when the rest comes in in February give them that. I'd keep the head under so they weren't aware of it. Just remember there are plenty of others in the same position as yourself.

You are not clear whether you difficulty is in making the payment by the deadline or in making the payment regardless of the deadline. These two circumstances are treated very differently by the Accommodation Office. I suggest that you email details of your situation to residences@tcd.ie with the specific request that your email is forwarded to the Accommodation Officer.
