Im sure it takes a lot of time to get to that salary. Unqualified mechanics are being paid more in basic pay than new fo's in our place. And I'm sure most fo's have huge loans to pay back.

25k starting after paying 100k for training. Between 3 and 10 years to upgrade to captain depending who you're with.

Interesting thing about statistics is they depend on what criteria you used.

    2. Aircraft pilots
    Pay range: £56,017 (25th percentile) to £82,944 (60th percentile).

    Where as
    3. Marketing directors
    Pay range: £24,000 (10th percentile) to £104,636 (90th percentile).

I would suspect that the lower starting salary of the 3rd group dragged their average down.

Apples, Oranges and Bananas but hey who cares about the finer details.

Has anyone ever thought about the amount of qualified pilots who never even make it to an airline job after paying 60k+ for training,Compared to other occupations like medicine/law/engineering etc who normally gain employment within their field.
Who remembers those lovely people from that flying school down around the south east who advertised pilot training for 100k,And boasted that a pilot would have the loan paid off within a few years.

I think the more interesting "statistic" is #4. Transport associate professionals - eg ATCO'S are number 4 in the list. Aviation is a good industry to get into all round....

Is there actually pilots who have full qualifications and not in a flying job, ok I'm sure there are some obviously but is it as bad as everyone makes out? .. surely they get hired at least within a couple of years if they keep current?

Yes but without a job and keeping current will cost you more than you think.
