    Hi all,

I'm currently seeing a maxfacial surgeon (rather not give the name) and i'm scheduled to have a surgery done. Here's the issue.

Ive been rescheduled 9 times since the end of may, and am at the end of my tether. While I appreciate that these surgeons deal with oral cancers and the likes, my orthodontist referred me to the surgeon who then said I need the surgery.

I've told the doctor's team time and time again that I absolutely 100% can't get the surgery done after christmas as i've already rescheduled college timetables to suit this and it would mean missing classes and throwing over 5grand down the toilet. (I've been told 5 times since september that it would happen and at the last minute it's changed).
I've also told them that I can't get it done next summer as I have a job lined up and if I dont take it i'm sure someone else will happily oblige.

Basically i'm stuck in limbo now and I have no idea what I can do.

Are you seeing him publically or privately in a public hospital? If so you are at the mercy of the public system.... On top of that, if a bad assault, road traffic accident or more urgent cancer case happens- you get bumped off the list as the non urgent elective case...!!

People get bumped and rescheduled all the time in these lists but 9 times is ridiculous... The consultant may not be aware that you have been moved so many times as organization of the list often goes on in the background.... Talk to him...

Thanks for the reply oral surgeon (I wonder is it you.....hmmmmm :P

I'm public, when I first went for the consultations 4 years ago(!) I was told there was no need to get private insurance as it wouldn't cover it anyway, so following that advice I didnt.

I know that there are more acute situations that need to get priority but i'm still majorly pissed off. Also i've been ready for surgery for 9 months which they're aware of so it's not as if it's news to them.

I'm due to meet them tomorrow, what exactly can I say? I'm obviously at their mercy but it's turning into a joke at this stage

The mood im in right now you wouldnt like to be the one meeting me tomorrow :(

The secretary said that he might be doing surgery in early january and that I will be getting it done then (clearly i've heard that statement before, and that was a lie) so im wondering what I should say tomorrow? Can I ask him to guarantee that it'll happen or what?

It's not as if I can now turn around and not have the surgery, my bite is all over the place in preparation for the surgery!

Be firm, tell them that you unferstand that they work a busy and often unpredictable job but just explain how disruptive this is for you too...
Don't fall out with them, they will have you on the table soon....

    Good luck

Yeah i'll have to, and probably start crying in the process...

I'll just have to get a megaphone and tell him that I CANT GET THE SURGERY DONE NEXT SUMMER, SIMPLE AS THAT...IN OTHERWORDS I WONT BE ABLE TO GET IT DONE FOR ANOTHER YEAR...and then i'll probably say (EFF YOU)

    Firm enough?
