Does anyone know what the difference is between the Toyota Corolla Luna and Terra??? Is the luna a higher spec model????
Also I see the letters CBU NG written after some of the ads, what does this mean? Looking to buy an 2007/2008 Corolla in the next day or two... advice would be great Thanks :)

Terra is the lowest spec no alloys fogs etc and luna is the highest spec may come with leather.

Luna is decent spec. Strata is basic. Terra is downright nasty.

Terra's are driven by Terry's. Lunas are driven by........

NG stands for New Generation as the Corolla was updated in 2007, both old and new generation were sold in that year.

Terra is the base spec model and has electric front windows, remote central locking, electric door mirrors, cd stereo.

Luna is the highest spec model and adds alloy wheels, front fog lights, rear electric windows, electric heated door mirrors, stereo controls on the steering wheel and manual air conditioning.

There was a Sol model up to 2006, but as far as I know less than 10 were sold between 2002 - 2006. That's the one you want really.

    CBU means completely built unit.
You have MC (minor change), RC (rolling change), these would denote a facelift or runout model

NG (new generation) this would be a pre-facelift model, an 07 NG is the 07-13 model and an 07 MC would be the 02-07 old model.

Far as I know, CBU means it wasn't made in Japan.

    Specs are as follows

    Terra:
    2 electric windows
    Remote locking
    9 airbags
    ABS and EBD
    CD player
    15" steel wheels

    Strata:
Terra with 16" alloys and foglights

    Luna:
    Strata spec plus:
    air conditioning
    Chrome grille
    Remote audio
    Silvery bits inside
    Rear electric windows
    Leather wheel
    Arguably nicer seats

The Auris is practically identical spec wise.

Sol was only sold in the hatchback. OP is looking at 07/08 Corolla so assume it is the saloon which was only available in Terra and Luna. Auris replaced the Corolla hatchback in 2007. If I had a choice I'd go for one of the last run out Corolla Luna hatchbacks from 2006/2007. They were well speced and superior to both the newer generation Auris and Corolla saloon.

&1 on the old Luna 06 model, they really got it right on that one.

About the only time Toyota Ireland ever got a spec right apart from the Avensis Luna on the 2nd Gen facelift

On looks alone I'd actually take that Corolla over an Avensis. I think it looks much better.

Is the new one out yet?

It's been on sale since the end of July, looks like a shrunken Avensis.

It don't look half bad Bazzer. I think that looks better than the Avensis too.

Let me guess, we're getting a 1.3 and not much else? :(

1.33 petrol and 1.4 diesel, that's what sells here. 1.6 petrol auto is also listed but nobody other than rental companies will probably bother with that.

For Feck's sake, what is it with Irish people? A 1.3 and 1.4 diesel?

    That's a joke

It's not all Irish people, it's Irish people who like to buy Corollas new.

Think 70-year-old with a flat cap or headscarf, only uses it to bring their 90 year-old mother to Mass every day.

Some people are not into cars, they just want simple no frills, a to b transport that doesn't let them down. The Corolla does that very well, is that a sin? If it doesn't fit your requirements then don't buy one, I'm not a fan of them either but knocking it because it suits non car people is a little daft to be honest.

I'm not knocking it, someone has to sell cars to these people: Tiidas, Corollas, Micras and for the fancy folks, a Jetta!

I'm just explaining to Jesus why we only get the joke versions.

Nobody's knocking those that want to buy 1.3 or 1.4 diesels. It would be nice though for others to be able to get one with an adequately powered engine. Can't blame the dealers either, they only sell what the customer wants. I always liked the Corollas but I wouldn't buy one with either of those engines. There'd be no point.

The problem is that from a dealer/distributer's perspective there is no point in bringing in cars that they simply cannot sell. It's the basic business concept of supplying customers with what they want. Irish Corolla buyers want 1.33 petrol and more so 1.4 diesel Corollas, not 1.6 or 2.0 litre versions. Same goes with the likes of the Ford Focus here, 95% are 1.6 diesel with the odd 1.0 petrol.

Oh I know, I mentioned that above. I'm not having a go at the dealers, moreso the Irish public! As the other poster said, its a pity they all don't just go for the micras and puntos etc. The Corolla is the next step up and should have a half decent engine in it. Then again, most Irish spec cars are like this. In every category there is a proliferation of under powered engines in them. Probably down to high tax and fuel costs I suppose.
