The good lads on here normally ask about knowing the quality of silage when answering questions about what rations to feed

It depends on what your hoping for. Seems like .5kg/day is a reasonable goal. For the winter
If indeed the silage is good then 1kg of 15% beef nut should achieve this and not break the bank.

Our silage feeding report showed a potential weight gain of .44kg/day with no supplementary feeding. They're currently getting 1.2kg of beef nut just to help them along.

Last winter our silage looked good but it took 2kg of 19% ration to achieve the same growth.

For the sake of less than €30 you could get the silage tested and be sure.

Well your kinda relying that the good summer made good silage, bales are a bit of lucky dip when your getting them from different places..

1-2 kg of 15-16% beef nut just in case silage isnt all good enough..

Lots of lads here more clued in on feeding than me though..

Bought in bales & feeding much ration will get expensive so hopefully the winter will be short for ya..
