    Hi guys,

    I'm doing this recipe here:

    http://gracekitchencorner.blogspot.ie/2010/12/christmas-log-cake.html?m=1

    It looks like this:

    DSCN5895-1.JPG

Once the sponge is made, it says this:
Cut sponges into 3 portions, you will get 6 portions by making 2 sheets of sponge.

I presume what is done is:

Take one portion, and roll it like a swiss roll, but instead stand it on its base, then roll the other ones around it to make a cake that stands up right?

Just making sure I've got this right.

Any tips with this? Things that an amateur baker wouldn't know?

    Thanks!

Yes you have it right, it is basically a genoise sponge recipe so you would bake it in sheets like a swiss roll but not roll it all up in the one go like you would a swiss roll. You will be starting with one strip and making a short little roll which as you say you will stand on its end and then continue to wrap strips around it until you use up all the sponge..
