Apologies for not supplying vital information. Here you go:

    27"+
    HDMI/VDI/VGA will do.
budget: ~400 (though I would prefer sticking within the 200-300 range)

As for resolution, I have no clue. I am near blind. My GFX card is: Gigabyte GeForce GTX 660 Windforce 2X, 2GB GDDR5, 2x DVI, HDMI, DisplayPort. At work I use 1920x1280. I need a tradeof between making the most of the new real estate and still being able to read without tiring my eyes out. Any suggestions would be acceptable :)

I got an iiyama 27" a few years ago and I've been very pleased with it. It has a native resolution of 1900 by 1200 so it's slightly larger than HD. I think at the time I paid around €200. It's a big screen and you could quite easily bump up the text size without losing much real estate.

Unless you want one very soon, I'd wait a couple of months. NVIDIA's G-Sync tech will be showing up around Q1, and I for one am waiting to see what shows up.

To those who know, I'm sticking with a 1680x1050 TN in the meantime. That's how much I like this tech. :P

i was waiting for them aswell lad but they are going to be mental money and unless you have a beast of a graphics card there is little point
www.scan.co.uk are advertising them already . but they are £440 sterling about 525 euro . and its only a 24' monitor

also i have the non G-Sync version of that monitor and i honestly couldnt recomment it the colours are awful in it really really bad .

there are better monitors sure but for twice and 3 times the price

I think maybe you should look more into G-Sync... The whole point is that you don't need to use a beefy GPU, because 40FPS with G-Sync is supposed to be smoother than "standard" 60FPS.

Also, of course the colours are horrible with that monitor. It's a TN, and a bad one at that. If you want a good one, get IPS. That's what I'm waiting for: an IPS G-Sync monitor.

i know how it works , and i know what your saying but theres no way in hell id pay that much money for a monitor with colours that bad if i couldnt also make use of its 144hz refresh rate.

i have the monitor without gsync and its paired with a GTX690 and the fast refresh rate is awesome on it . but even so i couldnt recommend that monitor . there are bad colour monitors and theres this . its makes my eyes bleed for anything other than fast fps gaming .any slow moving games i use my Dell ultrasharp u2412m. also the asus its very poor in games with dark environments the backlight bleed is shocking.

Thanks everyone for your suggestions. I should add I'm the occasional gamer (read: 1-2 days playing games in a month)

Maybe, but I'm not entirely sure. The spec is here, as suggested by serephucus last year:

My requirements aren't probably comparable to the average user who will want the gear to work fine in fast paced gaming. I want something comfortable to the eye in general. Currently happy with my HP w2408, love that screen's aesthetics. :)

Thanks, could you clarify why do I need another graphics card?

    Thanks.
