Buying Builders Finish Houses

It would be much appreciated if any one could provide some advice or direction regarding the purchase of part finished houses.

The type of houses in question are complete to builders -1st fix finish and are water tight (roof complete, Windows/doors in). Apart from the obvious build quality.

What issues should i look into regarding final and on going certification, existing planning permission, services and final occupation.

It is intended that i will complete the house myself and it will be for me to live in.

Any information or a prod in the right direction would be appreciated. I have looked extensively for information regarding this, but have drawn a blank.

As always there are a number of people/companies offering paid advice. Whilst i am happy with this, it would help if i had some in sight into what to look for prior to taking that route.

I would get professionals, every one thinks they are Kevin Mccloud or George Clarke or Sarah Beeny these days.

Thanks i understand where your coming from. The build is no problem as this will not be the first time (I should Know better).
Its the other issues that i have not been involved in!

It will be difficult to get anyone to cert unfinished work and that goes from structure to electrics plumbing drainage etc etc. If you were not there to see it going together how can you cert it.

expect to have alot of the work redone

I would appreciate if someone could look at this property and get back to me, it's recently been reduced. It's just the shell of a house, the walls are up down stairs but are not plastered, there is no stairs and no walls constructed upstairs no electrics

Could anyone put a price on it to finish

Finish depends on layout, nr of bathrooms, specification of finishes, heating system, electrical system etc so the finish out cost would very much come down to the client
