Picasa and Google's invasiveness

I installed Picasa a while ago but never got around to using it. I'd heard good reports about it so I thought I'd check it out.

Today it asked me to update it. I stupidly agreed and very quickly Google Software Update Agent, a faceless background app, asked to take control of my Mac mini, presenting me with 2 option buttons in the dialog box, "Deny" which I clicked and "Open System Preferences".

I did a Force Quit on Google Software Update Agent's ass as there's no other way to interact with it, dropped Picasa on AppCleaner, and I'm now hunting down other Google stuff for extermination. Any 2nd-hand Daleks out there?

    Am I just paranoid?
