Where to shop for a handbag in the sales?

My OH is getting me a handbag for Xmas, but we're going to hold off buying it until the sales start to get a better deal. Budget is about €200 and I'd like something durable in a nice leather.

I will look in TK Maxx but have no idea where else to go - I usually use handbags from Penneys! Any suggestions? I'm excited to splurge on a really lovely one :)

I'd suggest Michael Kors ones from BTs. I have a lovely brown leather tote and I absolutely love it! I have it almost a year now using it everyday and its still in perfect condition! It was 250 full price but you will probably get at least 20% off in the sale which should bring it within your budget :-)

BT, Arnotts, House of Fraser and maybe even Harvey Nichols should all have bags within that budget during their sales.

What I call mid-price brands like Michael Kors, DKNY, Radley & Calvin Klein should all be possible on that budget (with the right reduction).

Be advised though, that bags tend to sell fast during the sales, so you should get in early on the first day or two. You could take a trip in before Christmas to see if there is anything you like.

I buy handbags in Kildare Village, usually Furla or Radley but Coach is also there.

The Kilkenny shop have some lovely ones in stock. I have my eye on one when the sale starts.

Did the program claim that there is a difference between the stuff in TK Maxx and the stock in outlet stores?

Nothing is made for TK Maxx or outlets. TK Maxx buy up dead stock, overstock, etc. Outlets get production overruns and sometimes, slight seconds. If someone said that on a TV programme, they don't know what they are talking about.

I beg to disagree. Much to my dismay (:(), Fizzlesticks is right. I recently saw the dispatches documentary in full on 4od after hearing an interview on Ray Darcy a few weeks ago(Link).

Here's an article by metro which gives brief overview of the topics covered in the documentary.

Eye-opening stuff  As consumers, it pays to be informed really

Thanks for all the advice. We went shopping today and got a gorgeous black leather Bailey & Quinn handbag in Debenhams, marked down to €150 from €220. Very happy!
