Should I get new shocks??

The car passed the NCT this morning but the front suspension came close -
Front axle 22mm (nearside) 16mm (offside) 27% imbalance
Rear axle 35mm (nearside) 33mm (offside) 6% imbalance

The pass make is 30% so just 3% under. Should I be concerned about this? One thing is that the last time I got the car serviced I was told that the shocks may need replacing and this will cost €400 as both need to be done at the same time. It's a Saab 93 and (unfortunately for me) has sports suspension and looking at Micksgarage I need the top two options, so it's doesn't look like they were trying to rip me off -

Now, I'll be looking at getting a newer car next year so if I can manage without paying then then it will be a big boost for me. Obviously I will only do this if it is safe!!

Is the ride smoothness affected? Do you notice during daily driving?

I don't notice anything tbh Biko - even when I got new tyres a month ago I thought that it felt great again! I guess it's been a steady decrease??

That's not to say that if I got new shocks fitted that I wouldn't notice an improvement :o

bottom line - if this is not dangerous then I can live with it

In general, risk of having imbalanced shocks can affect emergency braking stability or lateral grip in a sticky situation. But that requires major imbalance of shocks

I would test if car pulls to any direction during emergency braking in a safe area or behaves strangely at sharp turns.

From those figures above, are they a major imbalance? I really do not get what the figures mean!!

Good point and I may take the car out for some 'testing' during the Christmas period. There is an industrial complex not to far from me that I could use. Thanks for the advice!!

Unfortunately it is hard to say what is major imbalance without testing car as it depends on suspension setup/car but as it is still in NCT limits, I doubt it is a major issue at this point.
