They recorded next week's Raw last night.

-Jerry "The King" Lawler does not appear to be doing commentary for next week's show.

    WWE Monday Night Raw
    Dec. 23, 2013

-Stephanie McMahon and Triple H open Monday Night Raw, giving Santa hats to some people around the ring. They give Randy Orton the night off as a Christmas present.

    (1) Team Total Divas def. Team AJ Lee in a 12-Diva "Jingle Bells" Match. Natalya got the win with a Sharpshooter on Aksana.

    (2) Sin Cara def. Curtis Axel

    (3) The Wyatt Family def. Cody Rhodes, Goldust & Daniel Bryan

-There was a post-match brawl where the lights went out. When they came back out, Bryan was knocked out and the Wyatt Family was safe on the entrance ramp.

    (4) Singing Contest
The Great Khali & Santino def. 3MB, Xavier Woods, R-Truth and the Funkadactyls

    (5) Intercontinental Championship #1 Contender's Match
Fandango def. Dolph Ziggler. Oh, this was also a "present on a pole" match.

    (6) The Usos def. Prime Time Players

    (7) Battle to Save Christmas
Mark Henry def. Damien Sandow. Both guys were in Santa costumes, and there was trees and gifts everywhere. Much like the Smackdown Christmas-themed brawl in 2012.

    (8) Los Matadores def. The Real Americans

    (9) Ryback def. Kofi Kingston

    (10) The Shield vs. CM Punk, Big E Langston & John Cena fight to a no-contest (I think) when Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns break up a pin, and an all-out brawl takes place. Cena, Langston and Punk celebrate together to end Monday Night Raw.

It's nice to see that they are finally building Natalya. She's one of the most technically competent (although in no way perfect) divas in the ring and deserves to be in the title picture.

I reckon they are building up for Miz vs Big Show at WrestleMania 30

Russo is back! Has to be Russo, that match is him all over

He can ref the Miz v Show WM30 in a face/heel turn ironman match.

Sadly it won't be Ziggler vs Sandow. Vinny Ru loved that series.

    (5) Intercontinental Championship #1 Contender's Match
    Fandango def. Dolph Ziggler.

So Fandango has an IC match at Royal Rumble? Shame he won't be in the Rumble itself but still I'm glad to see him at IC level.

Axel has to have done something pretty bad to be made job to Botch Cara.

Wouldn't read it that way. Cara, since Hunico took the mask, has been getting pushed, with the wins over Del Rio who was the World champ quite recently. Look at it as a Cara push than an Axel jobbing.

It's a damn shame A.J Lee & her team had to lose to the cast of TOTAL DIVAS

Why? what heinous sins have the Total Divas girls commited?besides being part of something successful that will likely make WWE a heap of money in TV rights of course.

Or should she never lose, ever, because you fancy her?

AJ is by far and away the most talented Diva they have.

The ONLY reason the Total Divas are even on TV is because of the show. Nothing to do with ability. Surely them winning at Survivor Series and the night after is enough?

The Real Americans must have pissed someone off somewhere.

Rhodes Bros seem to be on a losing streak, will they be dropping the tag titles soon?

Well that's just what the WWE do with champions in non-title matches. I don't think it makes sense but they love doing it. Poor Axel used to lose weekly.

Yep and commentary claiming its live and referencing tweets sent out today... WWE creative putting in a harder slog than anytime so far this year to try make that stack up!

More great research from JBL - Apparently kids in Ireland leave out milk/guinness and rice pudding for Santa?

Two very fun six man tags but that finish for the main event was really terrible.

Other than the Batista return video, did I miss anything by not watching?

Strange moment when Darren Young addressed the crowd as 'Houston' (it was Austin) and then made a face like he had messed up. The commentators then picked up on it and started ribbing him and then the crowd started a 'This is Austin' chant.

Why it was strange however was that earlier in the show R-Truth had *also* addressed the crowd as 'Houston', yet when he did it absolutely nothing was made of it.

Some points about the main event.

    1) Rollins can clearly be heard saying "you did that sh.it to me" at CM Punk in full view of the camera. Not very PG.

    2) Finally why were the shield DQ'd for breaking up the pin?

This is going to sound like I am telling you a bunch of porkies but it is true. There is a secret (never explained to viewers) rule a stating that each tag team can only save their tag partner once from a pin or submission. Ex-WWE referee Jimmy Kordeas confirmed it's existence first about six months ago. Also Dean Ambrose mentioned it in passing when on commentary on Smackdown a few weeks ago as he chided Cody and Goldust for "burning their save".

No zero idea why it is never explained as you could tell decent strategic stories with it.

That 12 Diva tag was the same as any multi diva tag before it

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,116 ✭✭✭Professional Griefer

It was a disgraceful raw. Turned it off after a while. Best thing was JBL, especially talking about Sin Cara, ''Its like hes a different person'', Khali singing was pretty funny too. :pac:

Amazing how good Sin Cara's English is these days compared to a few months ago. :D

Fandango getting the IC belt at RR so that they can properly start that Reigns/Big E feud would be nice. Build it into the main storyline too.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,478 ✭✭✭✭gnfnrhead

Started watching it, wifey was on nice and early so I turned it off shortly after :D

Thankfully they spared her from that woeful spinning spot.

Total Divas is finished now so I have no idea why they are still pushing it so hard. Let the worthwhile Divas have a shot at AJ for a change.

A Reigns/Big E Intercontinental feud would make the belt alot more valuable than Fandango could ever make it though.

Jesus, poor Bryan really does like he is going to be buried by joining the Wyatts at some stage.

How I think the Big E/Reigns feud could go:

They feud for a while, Reigns doesn't win, gets ridiculed by the Authority and eventually turned on, turning him face and kept in the main storyline.

If WWE do this right then both stars could look incredible.

Harper uses a heelo (spelling?) and Rowan uses a claw says it all really. Harper seems to be the only one of the troupe that has any ability. The blobby Bray has beaten Cody and Bryan clean, how sad is that.

It's pretty bad, Bray doesn't strike me as the Mark Henry brand of big but fit either. Did I mention that I f*cking love Mark Henry?

It is what you come to expect from gimmick Raws. Nothing involving Mark Henry is a complete waste of time though.

But Good Santa won which meant Christmas wasn't cancelled. ;)
I credit Michael Cole as an actor for saying that with a serious face.

Only good thing about Raw was CM Punk saying IT'S CHRISTMAS TIIIIME! instead of clobberin' time in his entrance.

I also found it extremely funny when Good Santa unwraps the toilet and JBL asks Cole if its his career :)
