There cheaper on Amazon, not a bargain.

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B00A6QA4MM/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?qid=1387314630&sr=8-1&pi=AC_SX110_SY165

Nexus 7 is a better tablet for half the price.

I see the 64 GB one is 350 so a good price

€309 for a 32gb and €379 for a 64gb wifi plus cellular is a bargain to me and can be ordered off an Irish site.

I know these aren't exactly like for like, but if you must buy a tablet and you must buy an apple, then I'd check the refurbs - even better than being purchased from an Irish site, I think they actually do the refurb work here too!!

iPad mini Retina (2nd Gen) provides "up to four times the CPU and eight times the graphics performance" of the original iPad mini.

    These are 1st gen.

I've had a 1st gen since it launched and it hasn't struggled to do anything yet. Retina is obviously a plus with the second gen, but I find my current one fine.

    From EveryMac:

On the other hand, the iPad mini 2nd Gen's complete annihilation of its predecessor is quite impressive, period.

Thanks for the heads up on this on OP!

I bought a 16GB one as a Christmas gift a week ago for €299. Went back up this morning and doubled it's capacity for €10! She'll be delighted!

Staff in Tallaght were dead nice about it too!

Judging by the specs it appears to be a first gen.

That looks like a very good deal alright, especially for the 64GB Wifi/3G model....

Out of interest (and apologies if this causes thread drift) but how does the cellular side of it work? I assume you get a sim card and some sort of a data contract with one of the service providers, but do you have to take out some sort of a contract or use the data within a certain time frame or is it possible to (for example) buy 1GB of data and then when that runs out buy another...?
I think it would be something that would be useful but I wouldn't need to use it that often so wouldn't like to be tied to a rolling contract or have to use the data within a certain time frame....

I think there's no need for a 3G version. Most people have data packages with their phone so you can just create a hotspot saves you needing an extra sim and it's associated charges

Until you go abroad. You can get a cheap enough data only payg sim that will work in an iPad.

Did you have any trouble doing this? Im in the same scenario but the bother is no store nearby has stock of the 32gb so don't know if they will have them in onetime for Christmas.

I think the ipad stock in Currys must be decimated at this stage. I was on the look out for an Ipad2 and saw it on the Currys site (Ipad with retina, 64 gb and cellular) for €489. Its still up there but it was hard to find anywhere in stock. You need to ring the customer service centre for stock figures in different stores. It seems that Terminal 1 and 2 had some in stock so if you happen to be going through there then check it out.

    Happy Hunting!

I had no issues although I was within the 21 days change of mind period and the product was still sealed in the box with original receipt. May be no harm calling the store before you travel. I also reserved the one I wanted to exchange it for online before I went to make sure it was in stock when I got there.

Is there any way to see which PC World stores have stock of these?
I was in two different stores today and they had nothing...

Ye you just go onto their website, select the model your interested in and proceed to checkout then select the option to collect from your local store. It will give you the option to pick which store you want to collect from and whether there is stock in that store or not.

Thanks for that, they must have sold a lot at that price because there doesn't seem to be any in any of the stores near me and they've put the prices up today as they're not as cheap as they were yesterday when I looked. The website now says discount of up to 30% off selected ipads instead of 40%....
