Hi there, quick question, is a graphite seal necessary on the combustion door chamber? Mine is in bits so I'm thinking of taking it all off! Thanks!

Grafite door seal is to stop fumes escaping. Also to protect door fireproof board from high level of moisture in the fumes.
Boiler not running well could be due to lack of proper professional service. Also check that the front of photo cell is not dirty.
I presume when you mentioned door seal that it's a Firebird ENVIROMAX condensing oil boiler ??

Spot on scudo, it's a firemax alright! I'm going to order a new door seal tomorrow, the symptoms you have mentioned are just like mine. Escaping fumes, moisture etc!
