On this day in 1935 the first DC-3 took to the air, amazing that so many are still in service and thankfully a large number preserved in museums. KLM were early customers for the aircraft.

It's great to see them fully restored however its a shame to see the one we have in the Malta Aviation Museum.

Im currently working on it but there's a lot of surface corrosion on the exterior.

The greatest of them all. Passenger transport, combat transport, refugee feeder......they said, that if you could actually close the door on the cargo, the Dak could carry it. As evocative to pilots as a VW bus is to a born-again hippy.
First plane I ever flew in.

Incredible aircraft and one I've a particular fondness for. Didn't realise the 17th was her birthday!

For the flightsimmers amongst ye, the annual DC-3 World Rally is kicking off on the 28th...

KLM are the only airline in the world to operate every model of DC aircraft

My boss got his 1st command in a DC3 when he was 22. He is now 67 and actively flying a B747.
