It's not often I back short priced favourites but I've had a good bet on the progressive looking Midnight Prayer at Newbury tomorrow at 2/1 and I can only see his price going one way. He made a most promising start over fences when winning a handicap at Stratford two runs back off a mark of 123 (well backed;joined the leader at the last before the leader came down), and the form of that race is ridiculously good.

Second horse that day (beaten 19 lengths) was runner up off the same mark in the Southern National at Fontwell.

Third horse that day won a class 3 handicap at Bangor easily by five lengths next time out off the same mark.

The fourth horse that day (beaten 30 lengths) won a handicap by 17 lengths next time out before winning four days later under a penalty. Even the sixth who was beaten a distance was an 11 lengths third next time out.

He was travelling best of all and hadn't been asked for an effort last time out at Chepstow when hampered and unseating, and the gelding was only put up 7lbs for his win at Stratford. This looks better on paper but it's rare you see form hold up like that, and this horse could still have a fair bit in hand.

Lingfield 2pm Alben Star.Have taken 10/1 about Faheys gelding. He was a flying 5th last time without been asked any questions and looks well treated against some runners here.He is not very well drawn again tomorrow but the step up in trip is perfect ,big run expected. In the 2m race Swift Blade is a real player providing there is a strong pace.He pulls quite hard this lad and with at least two front runners in the race his finishing kick should be seen to go effect today with Winston retained.

Nothing tomorrow, but have some interesting picks for Thursday, stay tuned :)

Hadrian's Approach for me tomorrow at Newbury
Fell early in the Hennessy (definitely would have won) when stable second string but there was more money for him from the Henderson stable cats than their compatriot and eventual winner Triolo D'Arlene, which is worth noting..
Has decent form at Newbury from last year when just touched off by Unioniste (day-cent forum) and a good 3rd in the RSA - big playa.

Also think the Henderson hotpot Tistory may struggle to give 7lb to Broomfield but only 11/4 now.

Mercury Magic in the 5.50 Kempton rings a bell. Someone on here mentioned it before as a possible first time winner??

Hugh Taylor has this horse in his eyecatchers on the attheraces YouTube channel. 10/1 is well gone since about 3.30 today. Think 11/2 is the best now. Most likely HT will tip this tomorrow.

One bet for me 1.10 at Newbury. TIQRIS ran a cracker finishing a close 3rd over C/D last time. Fully expect him to beat Josses Hill tomorrow at a decent price. Having a decent bet on this.

Even with a few customary mistakes I would Hadrians Approach to win this.

Abigails Angel (7/1) for me in the 2-35 Lingfield. Has won twice at this track the last time off a mark of 72.
Her latest run was most encouraging when missing the kick and staying on nicely into 3rd over 7f which to me is a trip that's short of her best. She runs over 10f today which should suit and I really fancy her to go very close today off a mark of 65 which entitles her to be very competitive

I don't like having so many bets but I think Peachez is worth a try at two miles and is well handicapped with George Baker back on board. Took a chance each way at 14s in the second at Lingfield.

Might be worth bearing in mind...
Quiet period beckons for King yard after poor runs

ALAN KING, who has had only one runner since the middle of last week, has revealed that a mystery malaise appears to be afflicting some horses in his yard.

Writing in his column for the current edition of the Weekender, on sale now, King said that tests had failed to unearth the cause of several disappointing recent runs.

"Although we have had a marvellous start to the season, I was relieved when Our Phylli Vera won at Plumpton on Monday as things could have gone better over the last couple of weeks. Several of our horses seem to have lost a bit of spark," King writes.

"We have had one or two really disappoint when we were happy with them going into their races and we are struggling to put our finger on exactly what the problem is.

"We have done some tests and, while one or two of the scopes have been unsatisfactory, on the whole they have been clear and none of the horses is coughing.

"We have had a lot of runners in the past couple of months and have been fairly hard on them up to this point which may have taken the edge off them. We will work away quietly and have a few runners, but nothing like the normal numbers for this time of year."

King has sent out 47 winners this season for a strike-rate of 21 per cent, but the yard's recent form have been less impressive. Our Phylli Vera was his first winner since December 3.

King has three runners on Wednesday, two at Newbury - Midnight Prayer in the 12.40 and Fine Words in the 2.45 - and one at Ludlow, Midnight Cataria in the 3.00.

Have to say I like Hoof It in the 14:00 in Lingfield.

He should love the surface from breathing.

    6-1 e/w

Rydalis could be a good back to lay at Ludlow. Has been done at 1.1 and 1.07 last twice.

Barry Geraghty is such a good jockey.
Always delivers horse at the perfect time. Such confidence.

And Henderson is a much better trainer!

My friend has a monkey on Tistory at 6/4. Say he's nervous. Big drift!

    Weeks work destroyed!!

Lads just thought I'd point out a bit of value in the next at Kempton.

Enriching was only beaten 1 length over course and distance last time up in blanket finish. Currently 16-1 .

Horse that finished 1/4 lngt ahead of him 4-1. Both off same Mark today.

No use in decent ground I reckon, all form on heavy I believe.

No more bets still Stephens Day when I'll have a few pints and enjoy the day.
