06 Peugeot 206 - Engine sounds

Two months ago I purchased a second-hand 06 Peugeot 206 S 1.4 from a dealership. Recently the engine hasn't been sounding right when idle. Originally it was only when started from cold but it seems to happen even after the car has been driven for a while. I can't really describe the sound properly, but it doesn't sound like it's ticking over correctly, as if it's struggling a bit.

I asked a mechanic friend to take a look and he said the engine sounded like it was misfiring. He said it could be spark plugs or the coil pack.

There's also a high-pitched sound coming from the throttle body which he hadn't heard before. I found an article here with a video of my exact problem: http://www.206info.co.uk/Forums/viewtopic/t=52184.html

I'll be bringing it back to the dealer but was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on what to say or ask.

I just want to make sure that it's not going to crap-out on me a few weeks after the warranty expires. Thanks.

The high pitched sound from the throttle body could be caused by an air leak. This in turn will affect the idle, as the fuel/air mixture is being messed about.

Some issues can change characteristics as the engine warms up, either getting better or worse. But if it is an air leak, it seems to have gotten worse over time, which would be perfectly normal. Problems don't usually fix themselves, quite the opposite.

Maybe try running the engine and take a good look and listen around the air intake, using your hand where possible to cover it and look out for changes in idle or engine sound.
