I use two setups: 170mm scope mounted lamp (c/w batterypack) and a Red Lenser P7
    (c/w remote switch).
Each has their own merit and drawbacks, the larger one has a better reach and a wider spot light but is heavy and can be unwieldy to use. The p7 is light and compact but with limited illumination.
When I am on my own I use a light wieght hand held rechargeable torch for searching and use the p7 for the shot. When shooting in pairs I use the dismounted 170mm lamp.

There are plenty of lads here using bigger torches then the p7 with better illumination while still being more user friendly than the larger lamps.
