    Thumbsup from Munich
The project has always been a poster child for the open source community. Its formal completion and the fact it has been declared a success will doubtless be most welcome.

"Mr Maude has outlined plans to shift UK government departments to the .odf Open Document Format (ODF) and away from Microsoft's proprietary Microsoft Word .doc and .docx formats, freeing users to switch to open source office suites."

In my opinion this is actually a bigger change than just switching to Libre/OpenOffice. The file format is the key to hold the grip on the user (pdf, dwg, pps, wmv and others)

I wonder if this 'intention' will survive the MS 'lobbying' .... lots of similar intentions didn't, in various locations ....
