    Hi - I'm really stuck.
My family is home from the US this Christmas. I don't really know the kids too well. I can manage to buy something for the girls but I'm confused as to what to get a 16 year old boy? Any ideas? Thanks

Ask his parents what he's interested in, it's hard to just buy on someone based on their age, without accounting for their interests or tastes...

Alternatively you could just get him a 50 euro one 4 all voucher and let him spend the money as he wishes.

Thanks for your response. I already asked his parents and they weren't helpful. Plus a one 4 all voucher won't work. A 16 year old kid would like to get something on Christmas Day. He likes cars apparently...

I know some people don't like giving cash but teenagers like recieving it. Along with a selection box!!! Always what my tennager and godson prefer
Or an irish soccer or rugby jersey or somethjng along those lines since he's from the states?

Its my brother's kids so his wife is a bit of a control freak. You've given me a great idea re Irish style gifts for him.
I find it easier to buy when its for my sister's kids.

Get him wiper blades and fresh car scent then!

A voucher for go karting and bring him while he's here?

A subscription for a car magazine

how about a pet or something of that nature. A small aquarium with tropical fish or a bird in a cage. Can be a real engaging gift that requires the kid to take on a responsibility and look after something apart from themselves

Thanks but not sure you he'll be allowed to take it onboard a flight home to the US after Xmas.

For a sixteen year old young man, you could get him stocks or bonds and let him watch the money grow. Young men do like projects I have found. He will have a nice certificate of bonds if that is the route you choose.
Or something original and related to his heritage, something he won't be able to get where he lives, something unique.
