Which box is for me?

Right, it’s taken some time – but now have the family convinced it’s OK to cancel the Sky subscription. The vast majority of what we watch and record is on RTE or the main free to air UK channels. So, looking for some advice on the best replacement for me.

    Essential:
    1. 7-day EPG data.
    2. Live pause & recording.
    3. Record 2 channels at the same time – either 2x sat, 2x terrestrial, 1x sat and 1x terrestrial.
    4. Good quality remote control.
    5. Solid & reliable device.
    6. Fast and intuitive to use on a daily basis.

    Nice to have:
    1. Combined Saorview / Satellite EPG
    2. Series link recording
    3. Stream other media from a NAS / external hard drive
    4. Well supported device.

    Long shots:
    1. Netflix built-in

I don’t mind a Linux box that requires some work to set it up, but on a daily basis it should be easy to use. I don’t want a budget box, so can stretch to whatever is needed for the solid solution as it will save money in the long run.

Possible solutions are boxes from VU+, Gigablue, Amiko, or even separate Freesat/Saorview boxes.

    Thanks in advance!

    :)

This actually might be better suited in the foreign satellite forum as that's where most of the Linux box discussions seem to be.
