Hey, can log directly into the modem by visiting 192.168.1.254 (password is broadband1) and give us the line statistics on the main main (bottom left of screen).

Also, what speed are you on with Eircom?
How many phone points have you in the house?
Is the broadband connected to the main landline?
Is their filters on a sockets / devices including Sky?
Do you have Eircom phonewatch in the house?

    eircom broadband: Connected
    DSL Mode: ADSL_G.dmt
    Speed: 7616 kbps /768 kbps
    Line Attenuation (Down/Up): 18 dB /9 dB
DSL Noise Margin: 14 dB /17 dB
    WAN IP Address: 83.71.40.115
    Default Gateway: 159.134.155.27
    First DNS: 159.134.0.1
    Secondary DNS: 159.134.0.2
    Tertiary DNS: 0.0.0.0

Tbh don't have a clue about the speed think they boosted me up to 15mb.

Yup perfect, your on 7MB exactly but your noise margin is a little low in terms of your good attenuation so their could be line interference causing it to drop.

The DSL light should be solid green on your router since you have sync, is the internet light on? Have you any filters in your house to add to your phone line downstairs? This is ideally where the broadband should be connected. Can you test it here as well please (without phone).

PS: DSL is designed to renew an IP every 24 hours but if your line is poor, it will take longer to resync or cause it to disconnect more often.

WiFi Light , Power light, internet and dsl light all solid green.

The internet card i have in my desktop has shocking range so i must have it in the upstairs. It worked fine downstairs when it was down there, i was thinking the line might be faulty where it is now.

I was looking at home plugs as a permanent solution, and putting the router back where it was as it had no dropouts then.

Definitely go for the home plugs, I have the small white TP-Link set in DID and Argos (white with blue LEDs, 200Mbps) that are around €35 and work brilliantly. You are always going to have problems with your broadband on a secondary point, esp. with an unfiltered phone connected first on the circuit.

Get the home plugs, leave the router downstairs and have the desktop on the other end of the plugs - sorted.

    EDIT: Here you go.
