    Hi,

Has anyone had or been at a wedding in this hotel? If yes, what did you think of it as a venue?

We're getting married in Limerick next year. My OH is keen on it. I went to UL so I know the hotel. I always thought of it more as a business/conference hotel rather than somewhere for a wedding reception. Am going to check it out soon but would be interested to hear if anyone has been at or had a wedding reception there.

    Thanks

I was at a wedding there 3 or 4 years ago. There was a champagne reception, chocolate fountain on arrival. Food was fine, couldn't tell you what we had as all weddings have long blurred into one at this stage, but we had no complaints as guests. Had a good time at the wedding there.

Brother in law had that hotel booked for his wedding 4 or 5 years ago. However, I don't know if the hotel was in financial bother or changed ownership, but it was closed for a while. They lost their deposit and were lucky to get another hotel 6 months before their wedding date (a busy weekend for weddings at that).

They had it in the Strand, and I have to say it was one of the best weddings I've been to.

But just to say that if a hotel is in financial bother or rumours thereof, doesn't always mean your wedding date is in trouble. Our own hotel went into receivership 6 weeks before our wedding, and two and a half years later is still doing great business.

It was bought by Pat McDonagh of Supermacs for a knock down price. It's not in Financial bother anymore.

In saying that I didn't go looking at it. I don't like the place, style, decor or location(flanked by small retail park and retirement home). I chose The Strand for next year.
