Tax Credits after getting married

    Hey

    Hopefully somebody can shed some light on this for me as I've no idea what is the best thing to do.

    Here goes.....

    Married over 3 years, we haven't notified the tax office therefore our tax credits remain the same as two single people.

    Are ye better off financially to notify the tax office, and, what would be the best option regarding our tax credits.

    Hope this makes sense :o

    As with everything it depends. If one spouse isn't using their full allocation of transferable rate band or credits and the other spouse could benefit from them, then yes it's worth going joint assessed.
