    Hi all,

My d4d avensis is coming to the end of its life and thinking about changing in new year.
Diesel a no brainer. Do about 20k miles a year.

Won't be any newer than 06. Not too worried bout tax but 2.2 the limit.
Looking at Saab 93 or Honda accord. Love both of them.

Don't want a passat or another avensis. 320d another option but really want reliability and don't think from that vintage they are.

Love someone to tell me go with the Saab :-)

Are Saab's notoriously unreliable? Haven't seen too much to suggest they are but compared to Honda suppose that's the case.

How much you willing to spend ?

MK II or III Prius is one of the most reliable cars you will find in the world.

55 mpg worst case, or 60-65 mpg with a little hybrid driving learning tips. This is real per tank mpg and not some "random reset before a trip" figure.

Very little maintenance and no timing belts, in fact the MK III has no belts at all.

Brakes last longer compared to a normal car too.

It's worth taking one for a spin.

Diesel isn't the only option these days.

Not a bad idea. Just like something with a bit more VA VA voom :-) bout 5 k limit but prefer less. Like to own my cars outright. Definitely bear in mind though. Would boot size be decent?

Boot size is fine for me, it can be deceiving but if you lift up the cover there is more space underneath.

There are nicer cars, more powerful but not many as ultra reliable.

You would most likely pick a MK II up for around 5K with 80-100 K miles, as usual should have a full service history as there have been a few recalls. but mine has had 0 failures in it's 110K miles.
